About Scandia Ceria Stabilized Zirconia (10% Sc, 1% Ce) Powder

Scandia Ceria Stabilized Zirconia (10% Sc, 1% Ce) Powder

Product Code: 6211708

Scandia fully Stabilized Zirconia (with 10 mol% Sc2O3) Powder hasthe highest oxygen ionic conductivity of zirconia-based ceramic electrolytematerials. It is used as a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) electrolyte membrane for improving performance or reducing operating temperature. It also can beused as a component in high performance composite cathodes or cermet anodes.ScSZ-10 has an ionic conductivity that is 3 - 4 times that of YttriumStabilized Zirconia (YSZ-8). The mechanical strength of ScSZ-10 also isapproximately twice that of YSZ-8. The characteristics of this ScSZ-10 powder make it well suited for use in tape casting, ink formulation, pellet pressingand other ceramic manufacturing processes.

Technical Specifications:

  • Formulation: (Sc2O3)0.10(ZrO2)0.89
  • Surface Area: 10 - 12 m/g
  • Particle Size (D50): 0.5 - 0.7 microns (um)

Superior Nanopowder Quality

Produced with meticulous control over composition and particle size, the powder guarantees a specific surface area of 15-20 m2/g and particles below 100 nm. This ensures efficient sintering, uniform dispersion, and enhanced performance in demanding electronic and energy-related applications.

Reliable Packaging and Storage Solutions

To maintain purity and performance, the product is delivered in tightly sealed containers with less than 0.5% moisture content. Distributors, manufacturers, and researchers benefit from customizable packaging options and clear storage guidelines to prevent contamination and degradation.

FAQ's of Scandia Ceria Stabilized Zirconia (10% Sc, 1% Ce) Powder:

Q: How should Scandia Ceria Stabilized Zirconia Nanopowder be stored for optimal stability?

A: The powder must be stored in a dry, tightly sealed container to prevent moisture uptake. Avoid exposing the product to air for extended periods, as it may affect performance and phase stability.

Q: What are the primary applications of this zirconia nanopowder?

A: The material is commonly used in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), oxygen sensors, thermal barrier coatings, and advanced electronic ceramics. Its high ionic conductivity and thermal stability make it ideal for these demanding environments.

Q: When is the cubic fluorite crystal structure of this material maintained?

A: The Scandia Ceria Stabilized Zirconia maintains its cubic fluorite structure at room temperature, with exceptional stability even at elevated temperatures, ensuring consistent properties during operation.

Q: Where can custom packaging for this product be requested?

A: Custom packaging options can be arranged through your distributor or supplier in the United States. Specify your requirements during the order process for tailored packaging solutions.

Q: What benefits does adding scandium and cerium oxides provide?

A: Incorporating 10 mol% Sc2O3 and 1 mol% CeO2 enhances both phase stability and ionic conductivity, especially at high temperatures, while also boosting mechanical strength and resisting degradation.

Q: How is the particle size relevant to the overall application performance?

A: With an average particle size of less than 100 nm, the nanopowder achieves superior sinterability and dispersion in ceramic matrices, leading to denser, more uniform components with enhanced mechanical and conductive properties.
